The Reconciliation (Brotherly Kintsugi)
With Oasis' entire back catalogue at their disposal, who would have predicted the soundtrack to the final scenes of the "Don't Look Back In Anger" documentary would be Burt Bacharach's "What the world needs now, is love sweet love"?
But it is.
The Gallagher brothers emerging as a beacon of hope and love in the cultural sea of division and toxic masculinity we find ourselves in is probably the most unexpected turn of events in recent rock and roll history. And I am here for it.
The photo below, used for the "Little By Little (Live from London, 2 August '25)" artwork, captures the entire come back tour perfectly. I read in the comments at the time that the guys in the photo didn't even know each other.
Their reunion has been a complete joy to watch. Not only are they as musically solid as they ever were, but to witness the feuding siblings put their differences aside for the greater good (and a few million quid, let's be honest) has been genuinely heart-warming.
Everything that's been, has passed
The manner of their reunion being more meaningful than anyone could have foreseen has inspired me to make a print that I've called The Reconciliation (Brotherly Kintsugi).
Liam famously smashed Noel's 1960 Cherry Red Gibson ES-355 guitar during the fight that ended Oasis in 2009. But the way they've put their relationship, and the band, back together to come out the other side stronger, feels like the human and musical equivalent of Kintsugi - the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics by mending fractures with gold.
Rather than discarding a shattered object, the practise of Kintsugi symbolises resilience and rebirth by transforming it into something stronger and more valuable than before, with the philosophy that adversity and damage are not the end of a story, but part of a transformation into something new.
So I've fixed the guitar accordingly.
